Awards

The Florida Association For Volunteer Resource Management is pleased to recognize outstanding volunteer management professionals through our statewide annual awards program.  Nominations are due October 15 of each year and awards are presented at the annual Fall Forum.  Please join us in recognizing deserving individuals and programs.

Outstanding New Volunteer Administrator Award

Purpose: The FAVRM Outstanding New Volunteer Administrator Award was established to honor a Volunteer Administrator with three or fewer years of experience in management of volunteers, who reflects the high ideals of the profession and whose dedicated efforts allow volunteers to produce significant achievements. Nominations should be submitted by FAVRM members.  Nominees can be members or non-members. The winner of the award will receive a plaque and a complimentary membership into FAVRM for the coming year. The award will be given at the FAVRM November Meeting.

 

Eligibility: Nominees must be a program manager of volunteers in Florida for a maximum of three years.  

 

Award Criteria:

  • Demonstration of excellence in one or more areas of volunteer management:
  • Effective use of leadership skills
  • Creative utilization of people, resources and opportunities
  • Ability to assess the needs, skills and interests of volunteers and inspire them to develop their potential
  • Understanding of organizational needs and goals and how these can be achieved through effectively engaging volunteers
  • The ability to match the needs of the volunteers with the needs of the organization
  • A strong sense of professional ethics
  • Ability to mentor youth and/or peers
  • The nominee’s role in advocating for volunteerism in their local community
  • Other community or volunteer involvement outside the nominee’s professional responsibilities

The Betty Tribble Excellence in Volunteer Management Award

Purpose: The FAVRM Excellence in Volunteer Management Award was established to honor an administrator of a volunteer program in Florida, who reflects the high ideals of the profession and whose dedicated efforts allow volunteers to produce significant achievements. This award is given to members of the Florida Association for Volunteer Resource Management. The winner of the award will receive a plaque and a complimentary membership into FAVRM for the coming year.  Awards will be presented at the FAVRM November Forum.

 

Eligibility: Nominees cannot have been a winner of this award in the past 5 years.

Nominees must be a program manager of volunteers in Florida for a minimum of five years.

 

Award Criteria:

  • Length of time the nominee has been involved in volunteer management

  • Demonstration of excellence in one or more areas of volunteer management:

  • Effective use of leadership skills

  • Creative utilization of people, resources and opportunities

  • Ability to assess the needs, skills and interests of volunteers and inspire them to develop their potential

  • Understanding of organizational needs and goals and how these can be achieved through effectively engaging volunteers

  • The ability to match the needs of the volunteers with the needs of the organization

  • A strong sense of professional ethics

  • Ability to mentor youth and/or peers

  • The nominee’s role in advocating for volunteerism in their community

  • Other community or volunteer involvement outside the nominee’s professional responsibilities

 

Innovative Program Award

Purpose: The FAVRM Innovative Program Award was established to honor the outstanding achievements of a local volunteer program in their creation and implementation of a program/service, which utilizes volunteers to creatively serve both their agency and their community. Nominations should be submitted by FAVRM members.  Nominees can be members or non-members.  The winner of the award will receive a plaque and a complimentary membership into FAVRM for the coming year. The award will be given at the FAVRM November Forum.  

 

Eligibility: The program/service must be part of a formally established volunteer management organization. The program/service must focus on a specific issue of the agency/community. The program/service should help educate and/or reinforce the importance of volunteer programs in Florida. The nominee need not be a FAVRM member.  

 

Award Criteria

The following criteria will be utilized in reviewing and judging the nomination:

  • Community needs – The program/service must address an unmet need of the agency/community.

  • Innovation – Activities should reflect an innovative or unique approach to volunteer engagement.

  • Mobilization – The nominated program/service should result in or present opportunities for utilizing volunteers in other local Florida volunteer activities.

  • Achievement – The nomination must reflect actual accomplishments achieved through the program/service.

  • Replication – The nominated program should be easily replicable.
