Forgotten Coast en Plein Air began in 2005 as a vision of the late Richard Carrell of Mexico Beach, Florida and John Hendry of the St. Joe Company. The mission was to host an event and engage the finest plein air painters to document the changing landscape of the stretch of Florida’s Gulf Coast between Mexico Beach and Alligator Point. The event was initiated under the umbrella of the Gulf Alliance for Local Arts and in 2008 incorporated as an independent non-profit 501c3 organization
