The Florida Association For Volunteer Resource Management website is a great place to learn more about volunteer management and the many dedicated volunteer management professionals who make volunteering a fun and rewarding experience. There is plenty to explore on this website…so let your journey begin!
Colleagues and Members of the Florida Association for Volunteer Resource Management (FAVRM) descended on Fort Myers to participate in their Fall Forum – “Kaleidoscope: Realizing the Possibilities”. The forum was held from August 20th through August 22nd at the beautiful Fort Myers Keiser University Campus.
The conference opened with a presentation entitled “Ready, Set, Reorganize,” which set the tone for the rest of the sessions; urging attendees to take stock and be ready to take advantage of opportunities and realize possibilities. The sessions were full of resources from how to engage different generations in volunteerism to an introduction of the American Red Cross’ campaign to educate and empower Floridians.
No one could ever say FAVRM doesn’t know how to mix business with pleasure, as evenings following learning sessions were spent networking and dining at some of Fort Myers’ most sought after restaurants.
A FAVRM conference would not be complete without an opportunity to serve the host community, so conference attendees set out to the Messina Center – one of the programs operated by Child Care of Southwest Florida – to help the children prepare hygiene kits for distribution to those in need.
While at the center, FAVRM members participated in their own Ice Bucket Challenge to show support for ALS research while challenging other organizations to step up to the plate to donate or raise awareness for the important cause.
The next FAVRM conference will be in Tallahassee from November 12th through the 14th, it should be exciting to see what impact FAVM members can have in the state capital. Stay tuned!
